Even though Bush and Kerry appear to be on separate ends of the political spectrum, they are both members of the same club with the same ambitions. I’m not a conspiracy theorist, but it is pretty clear that if we see a Bush vs. Kerry presidential race, it really doesn’t matter who wins in the end, since neither of these guys are really in control of policy. There might be minor differences in the way they go about a few issues, but I predict history will eventually look upon them as being very similar. I hate politics.
maroon
Remarks by the President to the Press Pool. What an assish maroon.
The Fell
The Axe of Doom came down at work today. We had warning meetings in the morning… In the end, I was not one who perished… this time.
One person was at a training seminar. She was called by the Axe Wielder to come into the office following her class, but wasn’t given a reason. Well, her manager told her during the day that she was going to be laid off, so she called back to say she wouldn’t be coming in after the training. It’s kind of silly to send someone to training when the manager knows the employee will not be staying long.
dogs
Designer mutts cost big bucks. Design your own dog breed, like labradoodle, goldendoodle, yorkipoo…
The Importance of Sleep
Study confirms sleep essential for creativity. Imagine a world where I get eight hours of sleep a night instead of four to five. Go ahead.
Moving On Again
The grade I got for my law class was neither better nor worse than what I expected. I start a marketing management class tomorrow. This should be interesting.
Sugarmama makes an excellent case for investing while you’re still young. Excellent advice, well written. Take heed! I’m currently maxing out my Roth IRA, I’m contributing enough to my 401k to get my company to match what I put in, and I’m saving money besides. I avoid all service fees possible. I pay no interest charges. I still need to do much more. I’ll increase my 401k contribution, I’ll divert more to savings so I have less money to play with and waste, and some time this year I’ll find a way to use real estate to invest that I feel comfortable with.
More news: I put together a new photograph gallery and added some recently-scanned pictures from a hiking trip I took in 2001 and from high school.
state
Keep this in mind when you’re listening to tonight’s State of the Union address.
Spontane
The lesson I learned this weekend is that I should be spontaneous more often. I decided that I wanted to go some place warmer since I had access to a car for the weekend. Driving to Washington, D.C. seemed like a good idea. The weather forecast placed it as being five degrees warmer than New Jersey throughout the weekend.
So I asked Barb what she was up to for the weekend. She told me she had no plans, and that was probably her first mistake. I told her I was thinking about driving down to the city, so she offered me a place to crash. That was the second mistake.
I took the three-hour drive, heading towards the warmer weather. I met Barb at her apartment and we set out for the Metro. We visited a couple of museums on Saturday and then a couple more on Sunday. We had dinner at Buca di Beppo, which our waitress Marie, informed us loosely translates to “Big Joe’s Basement.” It was some of the best Italian food I’ve had lately. We also had dinner — on a different day — at a Hibachi restuarant, where I met Steve. The food was really good there, as well.
I also finally saw Return of the King with Barb and Carrie, which was fantastic but a little long with the various endings, as well as The Blue Lagoon and I Want to Marry Ryan Banks, an ABC Family Channel Sunday Night Movie.
Now back to reality: food shopping and laundry.
