I really should have gone to bed thirty hours ago. Really.
Completing The Cycle
Last night I did it. Over the last week or so I’ve managed to get myself in the position where I don’t get tired until two hours later than then time I was able to fall asleep the night before. This problem culminated last night, when I wouldn’t start getting tired until 5:00am, precisely the time I needed to wake up this morning.
So I lay in bed for a couple of hours thinking I might be able to cheat the pattern. No such luck. I decided around 3:00am to get out of bed and start getting ready for the day.
I had my interview with the principal of the elementary school this morning. It went really well. I learned more about the position, and it now it doesn’t sound as frightening as it had before. Yet, I’m still very uncomfortable about the whole situation, especially since the high school job I would start in the fall sounds less and less appealing.
I did hear about another possible opening in a town in the adjacent school district. (The band director was caught — twice — looking at internet porn websites in his office while school was in session.) So I stopped by that district office to get an application, but nothing had been decided about that band director’s future.
There just seems to be something inherently dirty about being a high school instrumental music teacher.
On the way home I stopped off at a regional Division of Motor Vehicles office to pick up my “abstract,” otherwise known as a “rap sheet.” It’s not pretty.
What People Do In Life
I went to high school with this guy. I think I was a senior when he was a freshman, but I can’t be sure.
Spread The Love
I’d like to urge anyone who logs on to Heart Beat of Pompeii BBS and who has their own website to spread the love by including the following code somewhere on their site:
And here’s what it looks like:
BULLETIN BOARD
It Started In Oklahoma
Come preacherman, shoot me with your poison camera.
During a photo shoot, David Byrne, ex-leader of the Talking Heads and made famous as a nerd rock star by Lisa Simpson, took some of his own photographs. Now this is art.
Indecision
Can’t decide whether you want cable internet access or DSL? Get both! In my father’s girlfriend’s house where I am temporarily camping out, they now have choice — not to mention a 16×9 digital flat-screen TV with digital cable.
It’s too bad there’s never anything good on.
The Passage Of Time
Oh. Is it Friday night? I didn’t even notice.
More Progress?
The music supervisor of a certain school district is trying to get me into the Elementary School as a vocal teacher quickly, with the intent on moving up to the High School next fall (as long as the High School principal likes me). I got a call from the current High School band director today saying there’s a rumor that they’ll also need a string teacher at the Elementary School. I could handle string classes much better than I could handle multi-lingual and special-ed chorus classes.
I have an interview with the Elementary School principal on Tuesday, and at that time, I’ll find out if this string vacancy is just a rumor or if it in fact is true. If it is true, being in that position would be much better for me, the school, and the kids.
Of course the bigger dilemma is still how much I’ll actually be able to do if I don’t have use of a car.
Another Major Change
I’ve switched to Movable Type software for my journal thing here. I also decided not to import my old Greymatter entries. Another fresh start, I guess. But don’t forget to check out Heart Beat Of Pompeii BBS. It’s not online 24 hours a day, but it will be at some point. It’s a bit of nostalgia.
Heart Beat of Pompeii
For those of you (maybe two or three) who remember the Heart Beat of Pompeii BBS (it was around ten years ago)… It looks like Fenric is at it again. You can telnet to the BBS at telnet hbop.dhs.org.
