Things I Didn’t Particularly Want to Know

Apparently, my boss can fit her entire fist in her mouth. She showed us. Ah… going out to lunch is more interesting now than it was in my previous job. Also, she gets emotional after a few glasses of wine.

Everything is an adventure.

Being Used

Since I’m moving to a new job within the same company, my current manager and future manager had to duke it out to determine my transfer date. I had no say, of course. My current manager made the case for holding onto me for as long as possible. They want to use me for all of my Microsoft Access goodness while they still can; it’s highly unlikely they’ll fill the position with a financial analysis associate who has any clue how to create databases, especially the VisualBasic stuff they want me to do.

Seriously, people get paid $75/hour to do that kind of work around here, if not more. I don’t.

Regardless, I have to grin and bear it until I return from California on April 24.

I’ve given my notice and I’ll be starting a new job in a few weeks. Same company, new office. It will be a nice change, but I’ll be sticking to my philosophy of “Don’t get too comfortable.”

Exciting Times, Exiting Times?

There’s quite a lot going on with me at the moment, and I hope to have something to talk more about it in a couple of weeks. In the mean time, my weekends have been mostly spent working at marching band competitions. Music people are good people. I think I’ve had at least two offers from music teachers who’d like me to help out with their marching band programs next fall… that’s something to think about.

It would be nice to be more involved with the students than just running these shows as I’ve been doing this fall. But I think it’s better off for me as not a full-time thing.

Second Day in a Row

I stayed home sick from work again today. I would like to say that I used the time to get a lot of stuff done, to look for possible new jobs, to look for a new place to live, and to study for the LSAT, but it seemed that my body wanted to do not much more than sleep. So sleep I did.

I got a delivery from my mother, who has been living in California for several years. There is no place that delivers groceries around here, like I mentioned before, and obviously no one around here would go shopping for me. My mom had a restaurant deliver me some soup, chili, a sandwiches, soda… Everything lasted the two days I stayed home. I feel much better now and I’ll be heading back to work tomorrow. Thank you to everyone who asked how I was doing.

Sorry about the site being down the last few days; I had some behind-the-scenes changes to make and I wasn’t sure when I’d get to it.

Oh, See

This is why I might be interested in copyright law… put simply it’s absurd and needs to change. The story is crazy and should be read all the way through when you have a chance.

It Has Pros and Cons

I didn’t get home from work until after midnight the other night, but at least I’m getting paid overtime. That’s all I’ll say about the job for now.

I don’t really have much to say at all. I was kind of hoping I’d get more participation on the Mix CD Exchange. I know I’ve still got to get to programming things like message boards, but I still think what’s there is pretty neat and worthy of people coming to the site. I just don’t have time to get the word out. I know there are thousands of people who enjoy putting Mix CDs together. Where are they?

I’m just thinking in type here. If you’ve got ideas on how to get things moving, just do it. (Instead of writing a comment starting with “You should,” step up (especially if you’ve already said you’d help :> ). I could use the assistance.)

Ah

It’s nice to be home from work early. I should probably do something with this time, such as clean my apartment.
