A few things learned today:

  1. Don’t drink the orange soda from Burger King anymore, it will make me see everything with an orange tint.
  2. Listening to classical music in the car makes the drive seem shorter because the individual pieces are usually long. (The station’s pretty good and they play a variety of “classical” music from baroque through twentieth century. A nice change since I’ve been listening to my CD’s over and over again or the classic rock station that plays the same stuff over and over again.)
  3. Once again, I need a haircut, but I have no time to get one.
  4. It’s also about time I took my car in for some kind of semi-regularly scheduled maintenance.

Well I just got back

Well I just got back from The City, where I saw Don Giovanni at the Lincoln Center. The show was great, but I was most impressed with the devices they had for subtitles. The opera, having debuted over 200 years ago in Prague, was written by an Austrian about Spaniards who communicated entirely in Italian, tonight was subtitled in English using a fancy display affixed to the chair in front of me. Everyone had their own display to look at, but you could only see the words on your own. This would be so you don’t get distracted as much, I suppose.

Another strange reference to my

Another strange reference to my website has been found on the internet. This page looks like someone’s list of bookmarks. You can find a link to my “hotlist” from my first website, among links to pornographic sites, under the section entitled “Tsontes,” which I think means “sex” in Greek. (Can anyone confirm this?) In any case, my hotlist had nothing to do with sex, so I’m not quite sure what that link is doing there.

Here are my plans for

Here are my plans for this upcoming weekend in New England, so far:

  • Friday night: drive up to Newburgh, NY from work (one hour) and stay with Alissa’s relatives
  • Saturday: drive from Newburgh to Cranston, RI (three hours) to work at the competition
  • Saturday night: drive back west on I-84 and find a place to stay overnight
  • Early Sunday morning: drive north to Vermont to check out the autumn leaves before they fall off the trees, passing through Brnnington and Green Mountain
  • Sometime Sunday evening: decide it’s time to drive home and do so (five to six hours)

I mean… ugh. I am….

I mean… ugh. I am…. pissed off. He’s so stupid. He doesn’t know the difference between a country and a continent. The other day he said some small country was a continent. he doesn’t know the names of leaders of other countries. He doesn’t know what laws his own state has. He doesn’t know the names of people he’s sent the electric chair two days ago. He can’t form a sentence. He can’t answer questions. he can’t defend himself. He can’t think for himself. He doesn’t know anything about anything unless it’s something a speech writer has written out for him ahead of time, which is why he can’t answer questions. He can’t get facts right about Gore’s plans or about his own. and yet, amazingly, after each debate Bush has risen in the polls. What the hell is wrong with the rest of the people watching this stuff? He’s stupid. Stupid stupid stupid. What are people seeing in him that I’m missing? Do they like the fact that he doesn’t have a brain? I totally don’t understand.

– An ICQ message from Alissa to me. Did I mention I truly dislike politics?

When asked whether restoring moral

When asked whether restoring moral and family values or maintaining economic growth was a higher priority, more voters said moral values, 43 percent to 31 percent, in the NBC-WSJ poll. That’s a reversal from a month ago, when economic growth was favored, 44 percent to 36 percent.

Sometimes I think we Americans are just too flighty to vote for our own government. It’s a good thing we don’t. Well, not directly, anyway.

I truly dislike politics. Did I ever mention that?

Usually baseball games aren’t that

Usually baseball games aren’t that interesting. However, if the teams played like it was always the play-offs, maybe they would be more fun to watch. I must say that this year’s play-offs have captured my interest. I was a Mets fan back in the day, and I’ve found myself rooting for them once again. I think it would be great to see a Subway World Series.
