Mawwaige

There has been a run on engagements, weddings and conceptions lately. It’s a little unsettling. Of course I share in my friends’ happiness however it manifests itself. Lately, it just seems like the thing to do.

Last week someone told me she thinks I will be next in the wedding announcement category. Last night someone else said to me that I will probably never get married, as I’m never satisfied with anything in my life. She said that as if it was a bad thing.

Update Filling a Much-Needed Void

Many things have been up lately. As you may have gleaned, I am starting my Master of Business Administration studies in a little over a week. It is a two year program, with six-week-long courses taken one at a time. I’m excited about this for several reasons. First of all, being in the business world now, it would be nice to understand some of the fundamentals better. Second of all, I would like to some day run an arts organization of some sort. Why not just get an arts administration masters degree? Well, there are a few reasons. First of all, they are not offered online. The degree at the University of Phoenix will allow me to work full time and attend school full time, on my own schedule. Additionally, a general MBA will not tie me down to arts in case I change my mind in the future.

So this is one aspect of my life that will be a major change.

Public Plea

It seems to me that I don’t have enough people helping me move. So if anyone is going to be in the central Jersey area this Friday night, please consider stopping by to help load some furniture onto a truck. I can give you more information if you “);
//–>

email me”);
//–>
. I’m not sure who’s going to be around Friday night to help load my bed and table onto the truck, but I could definitely use some assistance. The next day, Saturday, will be the moving date for M-D and Denise as well as myself. We could all use a few more people for that day, too.

Any takers? I’ll buy dinner.

I Hate NJ Transit

Don’t they know I have somewhere important to be? What the hell are “modified regular schedules?” Are the trains running normally or not? I called customer service earlier to find out. The incredibly helpful individual said that he has no idea what today’s train schedule is, but he’s expecting updated information any minute now, “In fact, it is overdue.” I tell him I’ll call back in fifteen minutes, which he says is fine. I call back in fifteen minutes and surprise! The customer service office closed at 5:00 pm.

I won’t find out if there’s a train to take me where I need to go until I actually get to the station. Aren’t we supposed to be living in the future? On that same note, NJ Transit sends a text message to my phone to alert me when there are delays on my line. That’s great in theory. It would be better if they didn’t wait an hour between the time they post a “travel advisory” and the time they bother sending the message out.

Alright, enough ranting on my part.

Exciting Times Ahead

Tonight I will be checking out some furniture for my new apartment. I’m excited about that. I’m finding ways I’ll actually be able to afford to furnish my new place. The only question I have right now is that of a couch and coffee/living room table.

On Friday, I’ll be able to inspect my new apartment. I don’t actually sign the lease for another few weeks (at which point I’ll be handing over a lot of money for the security deposit and rent). Moving in will take place on the 26th, so if there’s anyone around who would like to assist, let me know. I could sure use the help. The good news is I don’t really have a lot of stuff anymore.

The only downside about my new place is the commute is going to me a little more inflexible. Also, I’m going to have to cut back on my expenses if I want to keep saving money. My rent will go up about $500 a month.

Now, I’ll see about getting a raise. Or a promotion. Or a transfer to a new position entirely.

Quick Update #2

I should’t have said anything. Apparently the people who currently rent the apartment I would be moving into have decided they’re not moving out. This is getting fun.

Quick Update

I have a quick update while my own computer is with our IT people at work, getting remote access software. I have decided on a new apartment and will be moving in sometime starting July 24 or thereabouts. More on this development later…
