Exciting Times, Exiting Times?

There’s quite a lot going on with me at the moment, and I hope to have something to talk more about it in a couple of weeks. In the mean time, my weekends have been mostly spent working at marching band competitions. Music people are good people. I think I’ve had at least two offers from music teachers who’d like me to help out with their marching band programs next fall… that’s something to think about.

It would be nice to be more involved with the students than just running these shows as I’ve been doing this fall. But I think it’s better off for me as not a full-time thing.

Two Important Things

Two important things resulted this past weekend:

1. I have a new, doublepluscomfortable bed. I should be in it right now, but it’s currently empty so my motivation is a little lower than what I would prefer.
2. I have an appointment in November for extraction of my third molars (wisdom teeth). I can’t wait to be unable to remember the surgical event due to copious opiates or whatever drugs they’ll put in my body to ensure a smooth and painless non-experience.

About An Hour

I think I wasted about an hour. I was looking for something hidden in the cavernous depths of my various hard drives, and I came across my Trillian logs from the past three and a half years. Weird stuff was going on in my life, that’s for sure.

In Case You Were Wondering

I don’t want there to be any misconceptions. The “special entertainment” (mentioned below) was not a stripper. Hopefully that will set the record straight.

Is it just me or has the “What happens in x stays in x” meme worn out its welcome?

September 11 Benefit

About a year and a half ago my company held its annual St. Patrick’s Day party in New York, and the proceeds were to benefit Tuesday’s Children. That organization is holding a benefit tonight and invited my company, or at least those in my company who were involved in the planning of the previous event.

No one wanted to go, so I volunteered and Amy agreed to go with me. It should be relaxing — cocktails and food at a nice place in the city. The event is honoring Mayor Giuliani and the New York Mets for “their unwavering support of and dedication to the families who lost loved ones on September 11.” So the mayor will be there as well as some representatives of the team, and I know Amy likes the Mets.

There will be “special entertainment,” whatever that means.

About The East Coast

The neat thing about living on the east coast is that you have a unique opportunity. I was watching an episode of Gilmore Girls tonight, and one of the characters mentioned searching for something (Rory Gilmore Sex Boat) on the internet. If you live on the east coast, you can buy the domain name and have it up and running in some form before the episode is aired on the west coast.

Thanks to Dreamhost who scored a point by allowing unlimited domain names and subdomains but lost a point for having another outage today, lasting under two hours.
