Here’s an interesting article you probably won’t see published my American media. It seems the US Army (and whatever other Special Forces do this kind of stuff) are quite adept at killing… mostly their own troops and troops of other “friendly” nations.

Return of Jasmyre
Thanks to some help from a co-worker who visited my apartment the other day, my old desktop computer is up and running again… for the most part. The latest thing is that my DVD/CD-ROM isn’t working… and it’s kind of necessary. I hate to say it, but I missed having Windows for my personal computer. In any case, I can’t have both of my computers connected to the internet at the same time unless I buy another IP address or a router. So I still can’t get Heart Beat of Pompeii up and running. But soon…
UPDATE: Stored on Jasmyre are pre-Blogger website journal entries, going back an entire year before I started using Blogger. So I imported them into my latest website here. You can find them in the archives on the left.
Stupid, Stupid, Stupid
So, there’s this bill in Congress, which if it’s passed will allow more oil drilling in Alaska, wreaking havoc on the environment. There hasn’t been too much support for this bill, and the Democrats will probably knock it down. So to make the deal seem sweeter to people who care about the environment, they are including a clause in the bill which would allow more aid for Israel.
So what do we do about an “oil crisis” if we can’t count on other oil-production countries to deliver it to us?
Fund research on cleaner alternatives.
Of course this won’t happen for political reasons… a lot of money going to the federal government comes from the oil companies.
I gotta stop with this politics stuff. It’s upsetting me.
Good Article On Quitting
I wish I had read this article a year or year-and-a-half ago. (That would have been impossible, since the article was written only recently.) It might have given me more courage to get out of a bad situation instead of wasting more time.
It’s Officially Summer
Well, looks like we skipped right over winter and spring this year. It’s 90 degrees outside, and the updated forecast is even HOTTER tomorrow (93 degrees) and in the 80s for a few more days. I checked the forecast just yesterday and it wasn’t that high.
On an unrelated note, I think I came up with a fun feature for this here website thing. I’ll work on that tonight.
Broadway News From Yahoo.com
Well, it looks like Nathan Lane‘s replacement in The Producers got the axe. It must be hard to live up to a legacy like that. I guess I’m glad I haven’t gotten around to seeing this show yet. According to the article, it doesn’t seem to be difficult to get tickets on standby. That’s something to think about this summer… or spring…
But I’m Not A Big Fan Of Piano Music
If I were a Dead Russian Composer, I would be Sergei Rakhmaninov.
I lived in the early Twentieth Century and was well known for my compositional, conducting, and piano skills, yet I am melancholy despite this talent. My famous works include my nearly-impossible piano concerti.

Today’s horoscope:
Coming to a decision about something may be next to impossible for you, dear Pisces. You may find that the more you think about a certain issue, the more indecisive you become. The more solutions you can think of, the harder it is to pick one. The more lists of pros and cons you make, the more difficult it is to keep them straight. You already have the answer in the palm of your hand. Don’t make it more difficult than it needs to be.
