Move Forward

It’s good to know that even in times of tragedy, such as today’s space shuttle disaster, the general feeling of the country (from what I can tell by watching CNN the past few hours) is that space exploration is still important and we want to continue learning about the universe of which we are a small part.

Also interesting to think about: The shuttle was on time passing over Dallas, TX at 9:00 AM eastern time and was scheduled to land on the east coast of Florida at 9:16 AM. That’s fast. It takes me more than twice as long to get to the Turnpike, less than 30 miles away.

IT

The training I was participating in at work was experiencing technical difficulties. So, I will be working from home today and tomorrow to complete it.

The tech people refused to allow us access to the necessary ports to participate in the web-based training and all of the computers in our building (except one, it seems) have software that is incompatible with the web-based training software.

I get to finish the last few days of training from my dining room table. I’m not complaining.

Interlude

Your imagination is flying high today, dear Pisces. Intellect and intuition join together in a vivid and explosive union where the whole is definitely greater than the sum of the parts. Don’t waste this energy. Get busy and work on whatever creative projects you’re involved with, or start one if there aren’t any. This energy may not come around again for a while, and you’ll want to make the most of it. Have fun!

That’s A Gas

Imagine this conversation (think “one lump or two”):

Would you like regular or supreme?

     Regular.

Gas?

Bangkok’s got it going on. You can now get traditional massage services when you stop to refuel your car. It seems like a great way to curb road rage, and I look forward to Exxon/Mobil offering this perk in the near future.

Entry 1111

I turned on the Superbowl around halftime yesterday to try to catch the commercials. I guess I chose the wrong time. All I saw was some singer (who I later found out was Shania Twain) and No Doubt singing with Sting, murdering an old Police song. The only commercials I saw were spots for network television shows.

That training I was talking about earlier is starting today, while the boss is in London (again).

Good News

I broke out the clarinet for a few minutes today. Apparently, I’ve still got it in me. I’ll need to practice a bit to get my chops back, but I like the idea of getting back into music.

Dreamhost Woes

If you’ve tried sending email to me the past twelve hours or so, it is likely the message either bounced or disappeared into thin air. Dreamhost screwed up many people’s email systems. This looks like their biggest mess to date. I’ve done all my web hosting with them since December 1999. Unfortunately, there’s still nobody better out there. If you’ve sent me an email since last night, you might want to try calling instead.
