I know of a “small” company (who calls itself a non-profit organization) who could learn a lot from the business practices of a small fast food chain in Seattle.

There are definitely a lot of advantages to being a small business. You’ve got a lot more flexibility and room to maneuver quickly, where big companies take enormous amounts of time to do anything (it’s like a ship metaphor). It’s okay to be a small company, as long as you know your place, your industry, your strengths and weaknesses, and your business.
