Thanks to some help from a co-worker who visited my apartment the other day, my old desktop computer is up and running again… for the most part. The latest thing is that my DVD/CD-ROM isn’t working… and it’s kind of necessary. I hate to say it, but I missed having Windows for my personal computer. In any case, I can’t have both of my computers connected to the internet at the same time unless I buy another IP address or a router. So I still can’t get Heart Beat of Pompeii up and running. But soon…
UPDATE: Stored on Jasmyre are pre-Blogger website journal entries, going back an entire year before I started using Blogger. So I imported them into my latest website here. You can find them in the archives on the left.
I meant the right. The archives are on the right.
Get the Linksys router. I love it. I bought it when it first came out, and was like $225 or so, and now it is like $75 anywhere. But, it was worth every penny! I have three machines connected, and one acts as an FTP server and has PCAnywhere running…and you can configure through the router what LAN IP address to send those port requests to, so they go to the right machine. It acts as the only visible part of your netwerk to the Internet, so it helps out protection. I have a wireless network running off of it as well. Works with any OS, as it is configured through firmware that is embedded on the device; you just need a web browser to configure. God, I sound like a damned salesman, don’t I? Hey, it is a great device.
Sounds good to me. I’ve heard LinkSys is good. I’ll pick one up at some point…
