I upgraded Movable Type across all the blogs, and there might be some spam as the new spamblocker learns how to deal with it.
I saw Charlie and the Chocolate Factory earlier this weekend. It’s been a long time since I’ve read the book, but this seemed a little truer to the original than Willy Wonka, except for the ending.
Heights was a good movie about things that can only happen in New York City. Or perhaps, Amsterdam. Maybe Tokyo.
A new dude, working in my department at work, is starting in the office tomorrow. This will be fun. Also, it looks like they’re planning on hiring an assistant for the group. That should be quite helpful, though I still feel like this isn’t my calling.
Huh. I thought this version of the movie ended with the great glass elevator, as does the book. But then, I haven’t seen this version and it’s been years since I saw the Wilder version.
Yes, Barb, this version ends with the elevator, but then goes a bit farther. The ultimate end result of the ending is basically the same, but there is a loose end that had to be tied up because of a plot line that was added to the film (which I’ll reveal here since it doesn’t really spoil anything) involving Wonka’s relationship with his father. Granted, I’ve never read the book, but I do know that this particular bit of the plot was added for the movie. Overall, I rather enjoyed it, and thought that Tim Burton and the cast did an excellent job.
Is MT 3.2beta stable enough to warrant an upgrade?
I haven’t had any problems with the beta.
Hey Spike, M-D, is Movable Type compatible with Blogspot, or is it a little more in depth than that? Now that I’ve been playing around with what Blogspot has for a few weeks, I wouldn’t mind trying something more powerful.
Blogspot is a hosted service (Google/Blogger’s hosted service, actually). The MT equivilent would be TypePad.
MT is actually housed on your site’s server, so there’s no centralization (and, ergo, no massive traffic jams if the entire world tries to blog at the same time). I’m simplifying, obviously. But that’s the major difference.
If you’re looking for something more powerful than Blogspot, and you don’t want to host the software yourself, check out TypePad. If you’re ok with the software living on your server, check out MT or WordPress.
