So far today:
- I was given the most abusive hair cut I’ve ever had. I think the stylist was on drugs, but I’m not entirely sure. My head has never been shoved in so many different directions in so little time. I didn’t feel safe in that chair with this woman standing close to me, looking over my body with a pair of sharp scissors in her hands. However, I did escape unscathed and without giving the angry young girl more than $1 tip. It was just a trim, anyway, but boy was she in a mad rush… and “mad” is the operative word.
- I picked up a new, nice-looking belt and nine pairs of assorted nice socks.
- I bought three new CDs: two film soundtracks and one film score compilation (Bernard Hermann — Psycho, Vertigo, North by Northwest, et.al.) New music is always a good thing.
- I finally was able to get to Russo’s Music Center to pick up trumpet and trombone mouthpieces.
- Lastly, I headed to the Sports Authority to pick up two weights and a Yoga set. I’m motivated.
Unfortunately, I have to make a decision about a car right away. I need to decide whether to buy my old car back from my father or to just go ahead and get something new. The Toyota Prius is nice but there’s several-month wait. I need something right away.
New music is a good thing, but as of late, I’ve been buying new music for the “Material Possessions will make me happy” Factor… bad idea. It’s a spiraling rollercoaster of consumerism.
But I have borrowed a lot of CDs from a friond and ripped them all. Happiness high, Cost low.
Couldn’t you borrow your old car until the Prius is ready? Also, have you looked at the Honda Civic hybrid?
Having test-driven them both, the Prius is WAY cooler than the Civic Hybrid.
I can’t borrow my old car because it is used by both my father and his significant other’s son (when he is home from college). So I was just lucky I was able to use it at all. I’ve sent out requests to a bunch of dealers, so I’ll see what they come back with. I’d like to buy the car on Friday, so if anyone is free and wants to go with me, let me know. Besides, someone will have to drive the old Civic home from the dealership.
Have you looked into any *used* cars? It would save you a couple bucks…
I did look into used cars… in fact, that’s what I started with. The slightly-used cars I’d be interested in were not a whole lot less expensive than the new cars… Toyota Corollas seem to hold their value pretty well in the first few years, at least compared to other brands. Also, sometimes I just have to take the advice of my father, since he’s financing part of the purchase so I can just pay cash for the whole thing.
And by paying cash for the whole thing, I’m saving money in other ways…
This is true. I like my corolla. 🙂 It’s lovely so far. And yes, they do hold their value, which would work really nice for resale in the next 5 years or so.
Wow. Cash for the whole thing? On a Prius? Big spender! 🙂
No, not the Prius… the Corolla, significantly less expensive than the Prius :> but not as environmentally conscious :
True, but it beats an H2 by a mile. I feel like a little hippy driving my corolla in Dallas with all the SUVs around here.
Well, the H2 is FAHNTASTIC, you know?
