I’m happy to see “Smells Like Teen Spirit” made it. That song ushered in the grunge era which in turn stopped the “hair metal” era in it’s tracks. For that alone, we should be endlessly thankful.
You know at first I thought this was just songs but then noticed that albums were included too. That being said, I agree with Barb that the Beatles should be on here with… if not “Revolver”…at *least* “Sgt. Pepper’s”. Revolver started their evolution from pop/cover band to more “experimental” work which ultimately transformed the direction of rock music. And in Sgt. Pepper’s, they refined it even further and even wore moustaches while doing it.
I can also make a strong case for Pink Floyd’s “Piper at the Gates of Dawn” which was one of the first major psychadelic rock albums.
Piper was heavily influenced by Sgt. Pepper’s, so if any pop-psychedelia made the list, it should probably be that. Pink Floyd didn’t wear mustaches until after the Beatles did, too.
What? No “Curly Shuffle”?
Wow….”Shaft” made the list. Beautiful.

There’s no Beatles; thus, the list isn’t valid. I do appreciate the number of musicals, though.

Well, they say that cat Shaft is one bad mother…

I mean, seriously, to say that the Beatles don’t rank in the top 100 is laughable. I love me some “Guys and Dolls,” but really.
What! No “Singin’ the Blues” by Bix Beiderbecke! It’s merely one of the most influential–and best–jazz improvisations ever.
