Sickly

I drove home from work. It’s evident because I am sitting at home. However, I don’t remember anything between exit 13A and 8A on the turnpike. I understand that there isn’t much memorable about the drive, but I should remember that it took some time to get from one point to the other.

See, I’m not feeling well. I’ve been sick (throat, nose, sinus, whatever) for more than 24 hours now. And the thing that really blows about being sick right now is someone doesn’t come take care of me and give me soup and tuck me in, or whatever it is that people do when they take care of a sick person.

Also, I have a dentist appointment tomorrow. I have to be better by then.

Unrelatedly, I added this neat little script to my website that harvests links I find during the day (today was a slow day at work until about 5:00 pm) and posts them here. So that’s what the entry directly below this is.

Oh, See

This is why I might be interested in copyright law… put simply it’s absurd and needs to change. The story is crazy and should be read all the way through when you have a chance.

Article About Pop Music and Lip Synching

In Salon (get the day pass and click through the ad to read the full article), there’s a nice article about pop music and lip synching and giving credit where credit is due. Here’s a quote:

Ashlee, Britney, Christina, etc. are not artists, they are just faces being used to sell these products, these songs. The products can be good (Ashlee’s “Pieces of Me,” Christina’s “Beautiful”) or even great (Britney’s “Toxic”), but the “artists” have very little to do with how they turn out. Any scorn or appreciation you feel for them should rightfully be distributed among the teams of producers, songwriters and managers who have steered these women to stardom.

What Am I Getting Myself Into

I registered for the LSAT this morning. Between now and February 12, every Sunday morning I will take a practice LSAT. If I decide that this is what I want, it’s going to be several years of hard work and being poor.

In other news, I received the first monetary donation for DrumCorpsWiki last week.

Spike’s 2005 Plan of Action

Here are my goals and plans for 2005. Just to clarify the difference between goals and plans, goals are the intangible ideals and plans are general actions to reach those goals. Tasks would be the third level, but I don’t need to go into those specifics here, although I should write them out for myself. Everything below is ranked in order of importance at the moment, but some plans are contingent on others in different categories.

I’ll probably revise the list later on, but this is a good starting point. This is a technique I picked up at a previous employer in a previous life.

How Could I Say No

Stacey came upon free tickets to see Chicago on Broadway, but on the day of the show, yesterday, she found out she couldn’t go. I happened to be online at the time and she offered one to me. How could I say no to a great, free orchestra seat?

So after cake at Cindi‘s first birthday party, I headed to the train station and jumped on a train to New York, where I met up with a few strangers — Stacey’s friend’s friends — and enjoyed the show.

The show was very good and not what I expected having only seen the movie. Afterwards, I convinced everyone (just the four of us, not everyone in the theater) to get some food at Ellen’s Stardust Diner, one of my favorite after-show spots. We got to know each other a little better, and I think the group of us hit it off well. All in all, the night was well worth it and I owe Stacey undying gratitude.

It Has Pros and Cons

I didn’t get home from work until after midnight the other night, but at least I’m getting paid overtime. That’s all I’ll say about the job for now.

I don’t really have much to say at all. I was kind of hoping I’d get more participation on the Mix CD Exchange. I know I’ve still got to get to programming things like message boards, but I still think what’s there is pretty neat and worthy of people coming to the site. I just don’t have time to get the word out. I know there are thousands of people who enjoy putting Mix CDs together. Where are they?

I’m just thinking in type here. If you’ve got ideas on how to get things moving, just do it. (Instead of writing a comment starting with “You should,” step up (especially if you’ve already said you’d help :> ). I could use the assistance.)
