The Daleks, voted TV’s most evil villains in a British poll, will not appear in the BBC’s new Doctor Who television series. Speaking of the new series, Christopher Eccleston will be playing the ninth Doctor and Billie Piper will be playing the Doctor’s new “companion.” I don’t know who these people are, but apparently they have some sort of popularity in England.
You put companion in quotes. Does that mean you think that The Doctor will finally be, umm…coming out of the Tardis, so to speak? 😛
I have heard of the series Dr. Who…unfortunately we don’t don’t get it out here…
Well, Billie’s a girl, a pop singer of some sort, so I don’t think the Doctor will be coming out of the TARDIS as you put it. :> I’m sure she’ll be the typical companion: “What’s that, Doctor?” “I’ll explain later.”
Apparently the BBC was unable to come to terms with the estate of Terry Nation (who actually owns the rights to the Daleks, thanks to funny British copyright laws), so that’s why they’re not going to show up in the new series.
Christopher Eccleston is a well known British actor who you may remember from “Elizabeth”, “28 Days Later” or the excellent BBC miniseries “Our Friends in the North”. Billie Piper (Rose, the “companion”) is a young pop-starlet turned actress. I don’t think she’s been in anything we’ve seen here, but she was in last year’s very well reviewed 6-part TV version of the Canterbury Tales in the UK.
And now you know…the rest of the story. GoodDAY!
