Moving On Again

The grade I got for my law class was neither better nor worse than what I expected. I start a marketing management class tomorrow. This should be interesting.

Sugarmama makes an excellent case for investing while you’re still young. Excellent advice, well written. Take heed! I’m currently maxing out my Roth IRA, I’m contributing enough to my 401k to get my company to match what I put in, and I’m saving money besides. I avoid all service fees possible. I pay no interest charges. I still need to do much more. I’ll increase my 401k contribution, I’ll divert more to savings so I have less money to play with and waste, and some time this year I’ll find a way to use real estate to invest that I feel comfortable with.

More news: I put together a new photograph gallery and added some recently-scanned pictures from a hiking trip I took in 2001 and from high school.

Spontane

The lesson I learned this weekend is that I should be spontaneous more often. I decided that I wanted to go some place warmer since I had access to a car for the weekend. Driving to Washington, D.C. seemed like a good idea. The weather forecast placed it as being five degrees warmer than New Jersey throughout the weekend.

So I asked Barb what she was up to for the weekend. She told me she had no plans, and that was probably her first mistake. I told her I was thinking about driving down to the city, so she offered me a place to crash. That was the second mistake.

I took the three-hour drive, heading towards the warmer weather. I met Barb at her apartment and we set out for the Metro. We visited a couple of museums on Saturday and then a couple more on Sunday. We had dinner at Buca di Beppo, which our waitress Marie, informed us loosely translates to “Big Joe’s Basement.” It was some of the best Italian food I’ve had lately. We also had dinner — on a different day — at a Hibachi restuarant, where I met Steve. The food was really good there, as well.

I also finally saw Return of the King with Barb and Carrie, which was fantastic but a little long with the various endings, as well as The Blue Lagoon and I Want to Marry Ryan Banks, an ABC Family Channel Sunday Night Movie.

Now back to reality: food shopping and laundry.

Interesting

Tonight I was downloading a video or something, and I noticed it was coming in much faster than usual. Odd, I thought. How is the download going faster than Comcast‘s limit?

Well tonight as I was watching The West Wing, a Comcast commercial comes on, and the actress tells me that Comcast High Speed Internet is Now Twice the Speed.

So there you go.
