It’s Wednesday?
I spent the past few hours thinking today is Thursday. Maybe I was anxious for this week to be over, but the weather has been so nice, I want to continue enjoying it. I don’t really make a great administrative assistant, you know, with not remembering what day it is. When do I get an administrative assistant for myself who can remember these things for me?
Actually, I’m excited. I’m excited because I’ve given much thought to my personal future, and I really believe that I’m heading in the right direction. I just have to keep moving forward. Every day I don’t do at least one action to move forward I am really moving backward.
Just Curious
Does it now follow that high school kids will drive with their boyfriend or girlfriend to Make Out Point to “Freedom kiss” each other?
Interlude
Some internet searches that resulted in some poor souls unintentionally discovering my website recently:
25 or 6 to 4
On the train ride home from work yesterday, I was listening to some music and I envisioned an indoor colorguard performing to Cell Block Tango. And of course, it’s no surprise that someone already had the idea. Some day I’ll think of something truly original…
In other news, Google is celebrating Albert Einstein‘s birthday.
In other other news, you go girls. The Dixie Chicks exercise their first amendment rights.
Putting It Together
There are few things in this world more gratifying than having an event you planned come off well. My company hosted its annual St. Patrick’s Day reception last night. It’s more of a party my boss is responsible for rather than the company, since he has been doing it for eleven years, and he “brought” the party to the company when he was hired here.
Also, I think I just like being in charge of things and the responsibility that ensues.
Birthday Dinner Aaafter Effect
I returned home a little while ago from my birthday dinner.
Denise had planned the whole evening, and it was all to be a surprise to me. The plans involved dinner at The Cheesecake Factory and bowling. She blindfolded me in the same manner I blindfolded her last year for her birthday. I was placed in her car and driven to the restaurant, unknown to me at the time. I wasn’t allowed to remove the blindfold until after walking into the restaurant to the amusement of other people in the parking lot and the restuarant foyer.
We arrived at The Cheesecake Factory more than two hours before our planned dinnertime in order to get our names in, anticipating a long wait. It turned out that a party of 14 would not be able to be seated until midnight, well after everyone will have died from hunger. So upon some discussion, we opted for the Rainforest Café whose wait was only ninety minutes.
The dinner tasted good, but the rainforest-esque surroundings made for an interesting evenings. By the time we were done eating dessert (ice cream brownie volcano), it was pretty late and bowling was pretty much out of the question. Photographs are now online. Thanks to everyone who made it. It was great to be in the company of friends. Now I get to think about how old I am.
Webgeek Extraordinaire
My good friend Bryan is working on a new project. The Webgeek 0lympics is a series of events for web designers and programmers to showcase their Mad Skillz™. So I urge you to take a look, and that’s not just because he paid me to say so.
Weather Forecast Update
Early computer models from the Action News Accu-Weather Team show that this year’s birthday will be better than last year’s.
Yes, I have one week left of being Young (26). I will soon be classified as Old (27). What an arbitrary drag it is.
Always Trying Something New
Today was another first for me. Unfortunately, buying clothes for myself has never been easy. My body is a strange size, and nothing in the stores has ever seem to fit right. Now that I have income, it’s not so much trouble for me to just get things altered; for example, when I buy decent clohtes every once in a while from the Men’s Wearhouse, I just have them alter it for me. But I have some slightly older clothes which I’m not quite ready to do away with.
I have a pair of khakis that I’ve always found comfortable, but the only problem is they were too long. I continued to wear them anyway, resulting in the bottom of the pants becoming frayed.
I decided today that I was going to do something about it. I tore out the hem at the bottom of the cuff, cut an inch and a half off the bottom of the legs (hopefully that will be enough), and re-sewed the hem in.
The problem here is that I don’t know how to sew. It was pretty clear when I finished that the thread probably won’t hold up forever, but at least I gave it a shot.
