So, there’s this bill in Congress, which if it’s passed will allow more oil drilling in Alaska, wreaking havoc on the environment. There hasn’t been too much support for this bill, and the Democrats will probably knock it down. So to make the deal seem sweeter to people who care about the environment, they are including a clause in the bill which would allow more aid for Israel.
So what do we do about an “oil crisis” if we can’t count on other oil-production countries to deliver it to us?
Fund research on cleaner alternatives.
Of course this won’t happen for political reasons… a lot of money going to the federal government comes from the oil companies.
I gotta stop with this politics stuff. It’s upsetting me.
Yep. It’s better to just ignore these things and assume that people in government are just going to screw up the world.
I’m as cynical as the next person, but I gotta disagree with that. Ignoring means less accountability… less accountability means even more governmental abuse… more governmental abuse means destroying hundreds of Alaskan species we didn’t even know existed and energy execs setting White House policy. Oh, wait. We already have those things.
But seriously, sticking your head in the sand won’t make it go away. Being upset can be useful if it helps direct your energy toward knowledge and awareness. It’s a good thing, even if it feels like you’re not doing anything constructive with it — someday you might, and knowing is worth it.

I read yesterday that the bill got overturned. So, that’s good, anyway…
