I don’t think I am being too picky. It just seems to me that $700 is too much to spend every month on a fourteen foot by twenty-four foot by seven foot room. Is this the price I must pay if I want to live in north Jersey? What is the price I can pay if I don’t want to live in north Jersey?
I looked at another “potential place of dwelling” this afternoon. It was the basement of an older lady’s house. Although I didn’t meet the owner, I’m sure she’s very nice. I’m going to extend my search over the next few days. Of course, if I had a roommate, this process would be a bit easier. Is there anyone out there who’s looking to move to the Bergenfield area? There’s direct public transportation access to New York City, if that’s your thing.
If you add to this the fact I’ll need to pay two month’s rent as a security deposit — or three month’s rent if I end up going through a realtor — my current situation does not a happy Spike make.
North Jersey is tough. Prices don’t really get any lower until you look in South Jersey or Pennsylvannia. I’m sure you’ll find something, though…
Psst… Austin.
Psst…Philadelphia.
Philadelphia is plenty expensive, too. I don’t know about Austin. 🙂
Philadelphia isn’t nearly as expensive as North Jersey. I found lots of places Spike could afford when I was looking a couple of months ago.
north jersey is just as bad as nyc…. or close to it…. but at the same time… i don’t know of many places in nj that you can get a 1 bedroom for under $700. wingate was even pricy.
Austin is perfect.
Stacey is right. NJ in general is pretty expensive. I guess the question is…is it worth the extra money for the shortened commute?
The best solution is the one that will not keep me indebted to the US Department of Education for the next thirty years of my life.
hee hee. I’m going to be indebted to them for a lot longer than that. 🙂
Well, I’m not even going to TRY to suggest moving out to California…
