So I saw Janeane Garofalo

So I saw Janeane Garofalo at Caroline’s Comedy Club in Manhattan. There were two warm-up acts who were both pretty good. I can’t say I was blown away by the comedy from any of them, but it was lots of fun, and I did laugh a lot. It’s always nice to go into the city, even though it was freezing and incredibly windy. The show started at 12:30 am, and I don’t think I got home last night until 4:00.

And then there’s the one

And then there’s the one poster to a Yahoo! message board who notes the match between Pepsi and Britney are perfect: “Both are: commercial products, stimulating in small doses, sickening in large doses, bubbly, sugary, artificially flavored and poisonous to the digestion.”

I never liked Pepsi anyway.

The past few days I’ve

The past few days I’ve seen interesting things on the Turnpike on the way to work. Yesterday, about 50 PSEG utility vehicles were parked along the shoulder of the Western Spur. Further north, by the 18W toll booth, a trailer of a large eighteen-wheeler was on fire, and firetrucks were approaching the opposite way through the toll booths. This morning, southbound and northbound traffic was held up by a MediVac helicopter that was landing and taking off after what looked to be a minor accident in the southbound car and truck lanes by exit 13A.

One more thing about the

One more thing about the concert. This was probably one of the funniest events of the evening, aside from Dar’s stories which are always funny. Right before intermission, a minister of the church in which the show was held came out to speak to the audience about the two organizations and their goals. He made a comment about writing letters to our president, George W. Bush. As soon as his name was said, the entire audience started grumbling, hissing, and just generally making a lot of uncomfortable noises. Just an observation.

Last night I saw Dar

Last night I saw Dar Williams again at the Nassau Presbyterian Church in Princeton. The show was sponsored by the Coalition for Peace Action and Isles, Inc. While the Coalition tries to raise awareness of war situations around the world, for example, by suggesting we write to our President asking him to get rid of “hair-trigger” nuclear weapons systems, Isles is more community related, based in Trenton, and they try to help citizens think for themselves and take responsibility in the world.

Dar is always fun to see. She has so many great stories to tell about her music, and she has a wonderful voice. And she’s cute, too.
