Dinner was very good. I

Dinner was very good. I think that I’m going to start spending some evenings during the week at my father’s apartment, since he suggested it. He lives a lot closer to work than I do, and I’m only going to get busier at work over the next six weeks or so.

Last night I didn’t get

Last night I didn’t get home from work until after midnight. I am crazy. Tonight I’m having a Rosh Hashanah dinner at my father’s friend Anna’s house. It’s nice to get a home-cooked meal every once in a while.

Apparently, last night’s message never

Apparently, last night’s message never made it through to the web site. In any case, I accomplished my goal of not working on the computer at all last night.

And an update on the refrigerator. Mysteriously, now it is working. I’m not quite sure what’s going on and why it just works when it feels like it.

After working an incredible amount

After working an incredible amount the past seven days or so, I am making a promise to myself not to work tonight. In fact, I’m leaving the office now to see the season premier of Buffy at Darren’s house, and then I will stay off my computer all night. I won’t even check my email.

I’ll report back in the morning to let you know whether I kept that promise.

Apparently my refrigerator has decided

Apparently my refrigerator has decided to stop working. The freezer didn’t see any reason to keep what it was doing since it wasn’t getting any help from the fridge, so it quit too.

This would be a problem.

Also, I was in my office for very close to twelve hours today. I didn’t even get a chance to leave for lunch. (But someone did bring me some, so I did get to eat once today.)

…And I can’t eat a second meal because my refrigerator and freezer don’t work. My computer also didn’t work when I got home, but after flipping the switch back and forth several times, messing with the circuit breakers, flipping the switch some more, changing outlets, and more flipping of the switch, it came back to life. Unfortunately, my fridge and freezer are still dead.

Last night I went with

Last night I went with Stacey into The City to see the Lincoln Center Jazz Orchestra with Wynton Marsalis. The ensemble performed a new score to the movie, Body and Soul, an old silent film directed by Oscar Micheaux and starring Paul Robeson. The new score was written by the trombonist in the jazz ensemble, Wycliffe Gordon, and the music was absolutely amazing.

As a nice suprise, since it was opening night, Harry Bellafonte came out to do a bit of an introduction and to give a couple of shout-outs to the famous people in the house. He pointed out Danny Glover, Paul Robeson, Jr., and some dignitaries from the United Nations.

The movie itself was just alright. The added music fit the movie perfectly, including each of the film’s strange jumps from one mood to the next. I can’t wait for it to be released on a recording…

Well, I can at least

Well, I can at least say that the first half of my weekend was productive. I successfully coordinated a high school band competition, I cleaned my bathroom (!) and I created a new picture gallery for some photographs I have of some friends.

It’s true what they say, a clean bathroom improves your general state of mind.
